AI Tools for Students: Foundations and Practice

AI tools such as Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, and other assistive systems are becoming increasingly important in academia and the workplace. But what can these tools really do, where do they help, and where should you exercise caution? In this session, we'll provide an accessible introduction. The focus isn't on programming or technical details, but on using AI tools sensibly, critically, and responsibly. We'll explore the different types of tools available, how to ask them good questions or give them clear instructions, how to evaluate results, and how AI can support learning, writing, and research. When is using AI helpful? When does it become problematic? How do you handle sources, data privacy, and personal responsibility? The session is aimed at bachelor's and master's students in all business and social sciences programs. No prior knowledge is required. The session will include brief explanations, illustrative examples, and a live demonstration. The goal is for you to be better able to assess how you can use AI productively during your studies and later in your career without compromising critical thinking and academic integrity.
