Faculty profile

FAU is a leading university in many research fields at both a national and international level. The Research Focus Areas at the five faculties highlight the wide range of disciplines which are covered in research and teaching at FAU. Just like FAU’s interfaculty Key Research Priorities, each of the Research Focus Areas at the faculties is also supported by several professors, the research has a high level of national and international visibility, and research and teaching are closely linked. The Faculty of Business, Economics, and Law is home to the School of Law in Erlangen and the School of Business, Economics and Society in Nuremberg.

School of Law

The School of Law draws on a rich tradition of legal teaching and scholarship in Erlangen that dates back to 1743. It maintains close and productive ties with numerous judicial authorities, legal practitioners, and regional companies, which benefit students and enrich the teaching experience. The strong practical orientation, the development of key skills during studies, and opportunities for professional development are institutionally supported through the Institute for Lawyers’ Law and Practice as well as an active alumni network. Moreover, the School is part of a global academic network from which all members benefit.

School of Business, Economics and Society

The School of Business, Economics and Society at FAU is one of the most prestigious and research-intensive institutions of its kind in Germany. More than 6,000 students from numerous countries currently benefit from the high quality of its over 20 degree programs, preparing them methodically and practically for their careers in the private sector, socially significant organizations, or research. Research and teaching at an international top level, a strong international orientation, practical relevance, excellent connections with the business world, and consistent quality management are the School’s key factors for success.
